Ole Smoky Moonshine Named “Official Moonshine” At Daytona and Talladega

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway announced a new partnership with Ole Smoky Moonshine that will make the Tennessee distillery the “Official Moonshine” of both racing facilities. Financial terms were not disclosed.

This new agreement, which begins with the upcoming Camping World RV Sales 500 NASCAR weekend at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 18-20, marks the first partnership in the “Official Moonshine” category for both tracks and parent company International Speedway Corporation.

“The stories of drivers running moonshine has always been a part of NASCAR lore,” Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said. “We’re excited to develop this unique partnership that reunites the legend of moonshine and racing, and we look forward to having Ole Smoky Moonshine available for purchase at our events.

“I have heard stories for years about the good ol’ days when running moonshine in and around Talladega was occurring, so having this new relationship with Ole Smoky Moonshine brings those tales back to life,” said Talladega Superspeedway Chairman Grant Lynch. “Fans will have many opportunities throughout the property to purchase the incredible Ole Smoky Moonshine product during our Oct. 18-20 Camping World RV Sales 500 weekend.”

“We are proud to become the ‘Official Moonshine’ of these iconic tracks, both so much a part of our rich history and heritage,” said Ole Smoky® founder Joe Baker.  “The Ole Smoky brand has been in the making for nearly 200 years and we’re proud to celebrate the strong ties our craft has to racing.  As a boy growing up in East Tennessee, our trips to Daytona and Talladega were counted down like the days before Christmas. "Racing was born from moonshine, and now we’re bringing moonshine back to the races.”

Race fans will be able to purchase four different featured Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine ® cocktails at Talladega. There will be ten concession bars around the concourses, including the Ole Smoky Moonshine Holler, Talladega Bar in the Tri-Oval Tower and the Ole Smoky Bar at the intersection of Talladega and Eastaboga Blvd. in the track’s infamous infield.  Ole Smoky Tennessee is the first legal distillery in the state of Tennessee.
